Representatives of INRAE, members of the Transition Project in France, have organised a series of workshops to empower farmers and students and to and to provide them with knowledge about how to increase the resilience of agricultural systems.
These workshops took place in three phases. First, the results of the project were presented. Then, through scenario-based exercises, they aimed to stimulate reflection on the degree of reorganisation required within farming systems in response to different types and frequencies of disturbance.
Farmers were encouraged to articulate their responses to different disturbance scenarios. The overall aim was to delineate different levels of response to disturbance, to assess the benefits of collective reflection in developing resilient responses, and to identify optimal conditions for maximising the benefits of group reflection while mitigating its drawbacks. The workshops culminated in a visit to the farm.
