The Transition project consortium was well represented at the recent EURAF conference in Brno, where several members presented their research on a variety of topics related to agroforestry systems.

Some of their contributions to the conference focused on the legal and policy framework for agroforestry systems, providing valuable insights for future developments. Other presentations focused on the productivity and plant physiology of olive-cereal agroforestry systems in the Mediterranean, or the work done in France to understand the resilience of mixed fruit-tree and vegetable systems in the French Mediterranean, bridging the gap between theory and practice.

Recognising the importance of collaboration, one presentation explored the creation of a thematic social network to promote links between agroforestry farmers in the Iberian Peninsula. The potential of carbon farming as an emerging opportunity to promote agroforestry was also discussed, highlighting its role in a more sustainable future.

This active participation in the EURAF conference demonstrates the Transition project’s commitment to advancing knowledge and promoting the adoption of agroforestry practices across the Mediterranean and beyond.
